Web 2.0 is a buzzword often thrown around. While commonly-used phrases such as these can often become cliche and over used, it is important to remember what they are originally meant to convey. One of the cornerstones of the Web 2.0 movement has been collaboration amongst Internet users. With new sites opening up each day, there is a growing number of places to share and collaborate with others. Indeed, the options available have grown so great, that it is near impossible to navigate the sea of sites available to Internet users. However, a new collaborative directory has just launched that may help to bring some organization and direction to the space.
TechCrunch calls BuzzShout a "collaborative review site for new web companies." BuzzShout, which went live 2 day ago, allows users to add new Web 2.0 sites to the directory, review sites already in the directory, and "Shout" reviews, similar to Rojo's "Mojo This" or digg's "digg it". Users can subscribe to RSS feeds for individual company reviews or for all the newest websites. I'm gong home on Tuesday for a full week - where I will hopefully be holed up in my house, relaxing with coffee and wireless bandwith, in between Passover seders - so I might be brave enough to try and subscribe to the newest websites feed. In the past 30 hours or so that the site have been live, 225 sites have been added, so it'll certainly keep my hands full. In fact, I'm going to add a link on my site to my BuzzShout review page as soon as a moderator posts my submission. That way I can get honest feedback from my readers, and I can have references to my credibility. I think it will become a popular move for authors in the future.
The number of new web companies is multiplying exponentially. Hopefully BuzzShout, or similar new sites, will help us to navigate them.
